Reports emerging about a planned operation that was carried out jointly by units of the 64th Brigade, the 7th Brigade and the 12 April Division of the Somalia National Army in the past few hours in cooperation with the Wanlaweyn district police force, and was carried out specifically between the Yaqbari Weyne and Leego areas district of the Lower Shabelle region.
The officers leading the operation told the media that the operation was to ensure security and prevent Al-Shabaab activities and also noted that the operation was to destroyed Al-Shabaab bases between the Leego and Yaqbari Weyne areas of the region.
However, the Lower Shabelle region is one of the areas where Al-Shabaab holds the majority of its territory, and it is worth noting that government and South West forces are conducting operations to eliminate Al-Shabaab.
