The Commander of the Somali National Army, General Odowaa Yusuf Raage, was officially welcomed to Italy, by General Luciano Portolan Commander of the Italian Army, during a visit to the country’s military command headquarters.
General Odowaa’s visit is part of the cooperative relationship between Somalia and Italy, particularly in the military and counter-terrorism sectors.
The both leaders discussion will focus on, strengthening military cooperation between the two countries ,support for the Somali National Army , training and equipping of Somali forces, and also Italy’s role in ensuring regional security.
General Odowaa is also expected to meet with senior Italian officials and other institutions during his stay in the country.
These visit comes at a time of extensive efforts to build the capacity of the Somali military, so that it can take over overall security in the country.
