Somali Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-makhzoumi, who is in NewYork for the 79th UN general assembly conference ,participated in the Ministerial Conference on the New Climate Budget Goal (NCQG) which is focused on how to increase funding for climate change in vulnerable countries, especially Somalia, which is one of the countries most affected by climate change.
Also the Ministers suggested to form a large budget in line with the urgent needs of vulnerable countries, prioritizing resilience, adaptation to climate change, and supporting efforts to reduce the risks caused by climate change.
Minister Khadija also pointed out the importance of this new goal of providing financial support through non-debt grants to prevent countries in crisis from incurring other debts , to ensure that climate finance reaches countries including Somalia, to strengthen resilience efforts and adapt to future climate change.
