The Somali Military Court has issued harsh sentences against two individuals accused of collaborating with the terrorist group Al-Shabaab, according to Colonel Hassan Ali Nur Shuute, Chief Judge of the First-Degree Court of the Somali Armed Forces.
The first defendant, Muxudiin Abdisaalan Mahmoud Daqare, was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of maintaining direct and consistent contact with the militant group.
The second defendant, Abdikhaakin Ahmed Dini Awale, also known as Wadne, was sentenced to four years in prison for indirectly aiding Al-Shabaab operations and facilitating some of their activities.
Judge Shuute stated that the verdict was based on solid evidence and thorough investigations conducted by national security agencies, which confirmed that the two men posed a serious threat to national security.
This ruling is part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s broader campaign to dismantle internal networks linked to Al-Shabaab and to ensure that those supporting terrorism are held accountable in a court of law.
