The preparation by Members of the House of People of the 11th Somali Federal Parliament organizing a motion to remove the Prime Minister of the Federal Government, Hamse Abdi Barre, from office when the House of the People session opens.
MP Abdiladif Sanyare, one of the organizers, said that the motion has now been signed by 120 MPs, but there are still 20 more to go. He noted that the motion is scheduled to be presented to the House of the People on August 23, calling on other MPs who support it to contact him.
The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, has been in office for 3 years and 2 months, and many issues, including the National Election, are pending as the constitutional term of the Government ends in May 2026.
Similar motions to the current one were previously sought to remove Hamse Barre from office, but they ended in failure after the Somali Presidency launched efforts to oppose them.
