Cape Town, Thursday, 14 August 2025: — A delegation from the Federal Government of Somalia led by the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Jibriil Abdirashid Haji Abdi is in Cape Town, South Africa, participating in the Water Investment Conference in Africa which is going on 13-15 August 2025.
The conference organized by the South African Government, the Chairman of the African Union and the International Supreme Committee on Water Investment, is part of efforts to raise funds for water and hygiene resources to address climate change challenges, and to Achieve sustainable development across Africa continent.
The conference brought together some African leaders, ministers, development agencies, private companies, to unite efforts to strengthen water investment to achieve the Sixth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-6) and Agenda 2063 of the African Union.
The government of Somalia, despite the harsh reality of climate impacts, sees water investment as the highest priority of strategy necessary for social stability, preparation and reducing the impacts of climate change, economic growth and stability.
