The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, chaired the Fifth A3+ High-Level Ministerial meeting on Monday in New York, held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, he called for stronger African unity and closer strategic coordination to enhance the continent’s influence in global diplomacy.

Minister Abdisalam welcomed the adoption of the “Manual on the Modalities for Enhancing Coordination between the PSC and the A3+,” describing it as a framework to institutionalize coherence, predictability, and accountability in African diplomacy.

He said Africa’s collective approach has helped secure stronger peacekeeping mandates, support African-led initiatives, and defend the continent’s agency in resolving regional crises.

The Minister emphasized that African capitals must treat the A3+ as a political priority, ensuring consistent ministerial engagement and coordinated policies.

He also congratulated and welcomed the new elected incoming UNSC members of Democratic Republic of Congo and Republic of Liberia.

“The credibility of the A3+ depends on Africa’s ability not only to defend its interests but also to proactively shape the global agenda,” Minister Abdisalam said.
