Somali Defence Officials Inspect Damage in Awdheegle After Liberation from ”AS” Militant.

The State Minister of Defence, Hon. Omar Ali Abdi, accompanied by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Odowaa Yusuf Rage, today, visited Awdheegle, Lower Shabelle, to assess the security and humanitarian situation in the town, which was recently liberated from Al-Shabaab militants.

The State Minister and the Chief of Defence inspected areas destroyed by the terrorist group, including residential homes, schools, health facilities, and solar power infrastructure vital to the local community.

Minister Omar highlighted that residents of Awdheegle are facing difficult humanitarian conditions requiring urgent assistance, noting that the visit is part of the Federal Government’s continued efforts to stand with communities recently freed from Al-Shabaab control.

The State Minister also commended the bravery of the Somali National Armed Forces and the support of international partners, particularly the AUSSOM forces, for their crucial role in ensuring peace and stability across Somalia.
