Today being the day Arafa more than 1.4 million Muslims are in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage as a major pillar of Islam.
Saudi government authorities said they had stepped up security measures for pilgrims, a year after 1,300 people died, most of them from heatstroke .
Saudi Arabia has taken a series of measures to combat the extreme heat during the Hajj season.
Among the measure includes;
1. About thousands of trees were planted .
2. They installed hundreds of air conditioners to help reduce the extreme temperatures there.
3.They have also banned children under 12 .
4.A fine $5,000 and a 10-year ban on entering Saudi Arabia for those who attempt to perform Hajj illegally without official permission.
As of Sunday, officials said they had stopped more than 269,000 people from entering Mecca.
