Kigali, 27 October 2025: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdusalam Abdi Ali, has begun an official two-day visit to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda.

During his visit, the Minister paid a courtesy call to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Campaign Against Genocide Museum located in the Rwandan Parliament, where he paid tribute and respect to the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.

Rwanda is among the countries that have successfully recovered from civil wars that once devastated the nation, and today it stands as an example of how reconciliation, peace, and national unity can lead to sustainable development. The 1994 genocide claimed the lives of nearly one million people, while millions of others were displaced and suffered in various ways.

The visit of Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs is part of efforts to strengthen the diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Rwanda, as both countries continue to work together to promote peace, development, and regional cooperation.
