Russian forces launched a heavy ground and air attack early this morning, targeting the front lines of Ukrainian military defenses in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.
The launch was the largest since 2022, when the war between Russia and Ukraine began as described by some officials.
The move is seen as an attempt by the Kremlin to breach Ukraine’s defenses ahead of a meeting on Friday between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump.
Reports suggest that Russian forces are already in control of the entire Donetsk region, with the new offensive adding to the pressure on remaining Ukrainian forces in the area.
