Russia has fired 574 drones and 40 missiles into Ukraine in one of its heaviest airstrikes in weeks, Ukrainian officials say.
At least one person was killed in a drone and missile strike west of the city of Lviv, and 15 people were reportedly injured in an attack in the southwestern region of Transcarpathia.
The attacks come as US President Donald Trump is leading diplomatic efforts to end the war, and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the attacks show how “very important” efforts to end the conflict are.
The both Ukraine and Russia Presidents are expected to meet soon as it was confirmed that President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Hopes for direct talks emerged after Trump and Putin’s meeting in Alaska, and Monday’s meeting at the White House between Trump, Zelensky and European leaders.
