Puntland President Saeed Deni has denied the legitimacy of the recently established North East administration, whose capital is Las Anood, during his address at the opening of the 57th session of Puntland’s parliament.
Speaking about neighboring administrations, President Deni highlighted Somaliland and Galmudug, emphasizing Puntland’s commitment to peaceful relations with its recognized neighbors. He notably omitted mention of the new North East administration.
President Deni also commended the President of Somaliland for his efforts in the cerigabao peace process and for contributing to stability in the Sanaag region. He described the Cerigabo conference as a “step worthy of praise,” signaling support for Somaliland’s role in regional reconciliation.
The speech underscores Puntland’s continued non-recognition of contested administrations while highlighting its strategy of diplomatic engagement with established regional governments.
