The Puntland administration has unveiled a new security initiative aimed at addressing rising insecurity in Garowe, the regional capital.
Puntland Vice President Ilyas Lugator announced the deployment of a special security force tasked with disarming individuals unlawfully carrying weapons.
The force will also target criminal gangs involved in the distribution of alcohol and hashish activities that have recently sparked concern among residents.
According to the Vice President, the operation is part of a broader effort to restore safety and eliminate illegal arms from the city.
