Former Somali Prime Minister and current presidential candidate, Abdi Farah Shirdon (Saacid), has issued a statement following high-level meetings with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
In his statement, Saacid revealed that he presented three important proposals to the top leadership, which he believes are crucial to restoring stability and unity in Somalia:
1. Resolving the current security and political crises through inclusive national dialogue;
2. Ensuring that all discussions on elections and constitutional amendments are based on broad consensus;
3. Uniting the Somali people in the fight against terrorism, while launching reform and support efforts for the national armed forces.
Saacid emphasized the need for a shared national vision to overcome the challenges Somalia is currently facing.
