The California city faced a second day of violence after residents of a predominantly Latino neighborhood clashed with agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

President Donald Trump’s administration said it is sending 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles to deal with violence stemming from a crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

Border Patrol Agent Tom Homan told Fox News on Saturday: “We’re making Los Angeles a safe place.”

Tear gas and batons were used to disperse protesters in the Paramount neighborhood.

A total of 118 people have been arrested in Los Angeles this week during ICE raids, with 44 of them being held on Friday.
