Russia has a stockpile of powerful new missiles “ready to be used”, President Vladimir Putin said, a day after his country fired a new long-range missile into the city of Dnipro in Ukraine.

In an unscheduled televised speech, the Russian leader said the Oreshnik missile was unstoppable and promised to carry out more tests, including “in a combat environment”.
Russia’s use of the Oreshnik missile ended a week of escalating hostilities that also saw Ukraine fire US and British missiles at Russia for the first time.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on world leaders to give a “real answer” so that Putin “feels the real consequences of his actions”.
