Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held an extraordinary meeting last night with all the commanders of the national army, where they discussed the general situation in the country and the fighting that took place in the Aden Yabaal district of the Middle Shabelle region.
The Commander of the Somali National Army, General Odawaa, arrived in Mogadishu yesterday for the meeting, having returned from the frontline of the war in HirShabelle, where he was with the troops that had been captured a few days earlier in the Aden Yabaal district of the Middle Shabelle region.
The meeting which was also attended by commanders of the military, police, security, corrections and other security officials, such as the national security advisor.
The president is said to have been very upset that Al-Shabaab militants had captured Aden Yabaal district, and he ordered government officials to immediately capture the district.
In his latest speech to a conference in Mogadishu the day before, the Somali president said that the government would take urgent measures, justifying the areas captured from the government.
