The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed reached an agreement on the resolution of the conflict between the two countries, after the mediation of the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed have agreed that Ethiopia will get access to the Somali sea, which it will use as a port, after going through an agreement based on a bilateral trade process.
The two governments also agreed to preserve the independence and territorial integrity of the two countries, based on self-esteem and the protection of the nationalism of Somalia and Ethiopia, and to eliminate any step that could harm the unity and solidarity of the two countries.

This agreement stipulates that the two governments will start technical discussions to find a safe sea passage for Ethiopia to reach the Somali Sea, which will start at the latest in February 2025, and will be facilitated by the Turkish government.
