President Erdogan reaffirms to support Somalia in the 2026 one-person-vote elections.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a recent phone call with President Hassan Sheikh promised to support in 2026 coming elections .

As reported by journalist Ragıp Soylu, Erdoğan affirmed that Turkey stands behind Somalia’s vision of “development through democracy,” marking a clear endorsement of the country’s shift away from a clan-based political system.

Somalia’s planned move to a one-person-one-vote electoral model is considered a significant milestone in its democratic evolution.

The Turkish government has support Somalia all along through Military defence also invested in so many ways such as the explore of oil in the Somalia waters which is still going on.

Erdoğan’s message comes at a critical time the country is preparing for the 2026 elections, the country is aiming to expand civic participation and establish a more inclusive political system.

Turkey’s political backing is expected to bolster confidence in this transition process.
