President Biden called on the conflicting parties in Sudan to resume talks to end the conflict, which has dragged on for more than a year.
A statement from the President urged the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the opposition Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to withdraw troops and facilitate unimpeded humanitarian aid.
Mr. Biden noted that famine has broken out in the Darfur region, and millions of people in Sudan are on the brink.
Stories of illegal killings by both sides have surfaced since the start of the war, and in early June one of those allegations came to light.
The RSF has been accused of massacring the village of Wad al-Nurah after hit them with artillery and shooting people in their homes.
