Preliminary Talks Begin Between Parliament Leadership and Opposition MPs

Mogadishu – Preliminary discussions have officially commenced between the leadership of the Federal Parliament of Somalia and a group of opposition Members of Parliament, aimed at resolving ongoing tensions between the two sides.

The meeting, held earlier today, brought together a delegation representing the parliamentary leadership and a committee representing the opposition MPs. The talks resulted in agreement on two key points:

1. Postponement of today’s scheduled parliamentary session.

2. The Speaker’s office to revoke the suspension previously imposed on certain MPs, which had barred them from attending sessions.

The first point has already been implemented, as today’s session was officially postponed. However, the second point — the revocation of the suspension letter — is still pending and awaits action from the Speaker’s office.

These talks are seen as a step forward toward dialogue and cooperation. In the coming days, both parties are expected to continue discussions on the remaining disputed matters in hopes of reaching a comprehensive resolution.

RNN Somali TV will continue to monitor and report on the developments of these crucial negotiations.
