The non-resident Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Mongolia, Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, held a fruitful meeting in Ulaanbaatar with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Mongolia, H.E. Battsetseg Batmunkh, and the Minister of Education and Science, H.E. Purevsurengiin Naranbayar.
The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Mongolia, with in-depth discussions on opportunities in the areas of education, trade, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise.
Education and Digital Learning Excellence
Mongolia has made significant progress in the field of education, achieving a 95% literacy rate. The country was recently recognized with an international award for the quality and efficiency of its online education programs, which have enabled people in remote areas to access high-quality learning opportunities.
Economic Collaboration and Trade Potential
On the economic front, both sides acknowledged the promising potential for expanding trade relations, particularly in the export of Somali products such as agricultural goods, fisheries, and other locally produced items. With a growing economy, Mongolia expressed keen interest in developing a sustainable and long-term trade partnership with Somalia.

Ambassador Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi affirmed Somalia’s readiness to collaborate with the Government of Mongolia in building a lasting relationship based on genuine cooperation, mutual respect, and shared interests.
