The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Special Forces conducted a planned operation last night in the Sabiid area of Lower Shabelle region, killing a senior Al-Shabaab leader responsible for planning mortar attacks in Mogadishu since 2023.
“NISA forces, who were closely monitoring the movements of the leader, carried out the operation after verifying information about the leader, confirming that all the militiamen who were guarding him were killed on the spot,” the statement released by NISA said.
NISA also did not release images of the airstrike or the leaders and militias it said were killed in the operation, and there are no independent sources that can confirm the NISA report.
