Reports from Qarsa Khorof village, one of the settlements in Wajir County, northeastern Kenya, indicate that lightning struck and killed a large number of livestock following hours of heavy rainfall in the area.

The lightning strike claimed the lives of over 52 goats and sheep, all of which were reportedly confined in a single enclosure at the time of the incident.

Sabdow Muxumad, the owner of the livestock, told the media that he lost all his animals, with not a single one surviving the strike.

He further stated that the animals were a shared livelihood for three families comprising 40 people, who now have nothing left to sustain themselves.

This tragic lightning strike coincides with the onset of seasonal rains across the country, with the Kenyan government warning of potential flooding as a result of the ongoing downpours.
