Lebanese security officials said Rifaat Al-Assad, the uncle of former Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, recently left Beirut for Dubai.
Officials also said that many members of Al-Assad’s family have moved from Beirut to Dubai, while others are still in Lebanon since the ouster of Bashar Al-Assad on December 8.
Lebanese authorities have confirmed that there is no official request from Interpol for the arrest of Rifaat Al-Assad, despite facing serious charges related to war crimes and the 1982 Hama massacre.
Rifaat Al-Assad is in his nineties and is accused of ordering the killing of tens of thousands of people while leading the Hama operation.
