According to information we have received, the Somali government’s specially trained forces went to a meeting place where senior Al Shabaab members were holding meetings called Sumadale in Middle Shabelle.
A military officer told the media that Al Shabaab militants in Middle Shabelle were ambushed last night, causing significant losses.
The Somali government has recently been intensifying ground and air strikes against Al-Shabaab, and many of the group’s plans for attacks have been thwarted.
However, the large-scale operation in the region was last night attended for the first time by the Alpha Group.
