A horrific incident took place yesterday, about a lion has killed a 14-year-old girl at a zoo in southern Nairobi, Kenya ,the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) said.
The attack was witnessed by another young boy, who immediately informed authorities, KWS reported.
“KWS patrol teams and response teams were quickly mobilized and followed the bloodied bodies to the Mbagathi River, where the girl’s body was found with stab wounds to her lower back,” the conservation agency said.
Additionally, KWS noted that a 54-year-old man was killed by an elephant in Nyeri County, Kenya, on Friday.
“KWS extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and remains committed to working with local law enforcement and the community to improve the safety of individuals living around protected wildlife areas,” the statement said.
Also the agency called for increased investment in “preventing human-wildlife conflicts,” including developing early warning systems and fostering broader partnerships with affected communities.
