Kenyan security forces in collaboration with those in Mandera County launched operations against Al Shabab in parts of Mandera County following an increase in insecurity incidents blamed on the groups.
The forces targeted specific locations where they suspect Al Shabab base where they launch attacks and also where they pass after kidnappings.
On Friday an armed groups hijacked a Mandera Local Government vehicle, since then, meetings have been held to discuss how to prevent the incident and arrest the groups.
Recently Kenya government has been focusing on strengthening security in Mandera County following Al Shabab incidents in recent days that threaten stability and have caused concern among the community.
