Recent reports indicate that a powerful explosion has occurred in Mogadishu, which was heard in many districts of the Banadir region.
Preliminary reports indicate that the explosion occurred in the area of the Main Port of Mogadishu in the Xamar Jajab district, with gunshots heard after the explosion.
The explosion caused extensive damage, with buildings near the blast site damaged. The blast also hit a bulletproof presidential guard vehicle, which was later recovered from the scene.
Witnesses reported that the explosion was a suicide bombing targeting a vehicle, and the extent of the damage is still unknown.
It confirmed that one business person died where the explosion occurred , however, more details are expected to be released.
The government security agencies has still not issued any statement regarding the explosion, as the media has been denied access to the scene of the explosion.
