India and Pakistan have accused each other of “violations” hours after the two countries said they had agreed to a ceasefire after days of cross-border military clashes.

After explosions were heard in Indian-administered Kashmir, Indian Foreign Minister Vikram Misri said there had been “repeated violations of our understanding”.

Shortly afterwards, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said it was “committed to the sincere implementation of the ceasefire…despite India’s violations in some areas”.

The four-day fighting between India and Pakistan was the worst military confrontation between the two rivals in decades.
