Cairo, Egypt – The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed Amiir, who is currently on an official visit to Egypt, has made a significant pledge to support Somali diplomacy abroad by promising the reconstruction of the Somali Embassy’s conference hall in Cairo.
During his visit to the Somali Embassy in Cairo, Governor Amiir was welcomed by Ambassador Ali Abdi Aware and other diplomatic staff. In a formal meeting held at the embassy premises, the ambassador presented the governor with a comprehensive cost evaluation report outlining the financial needs for renovating and reconstructing the conference facility within the embassy compound.
Governor Amiir acknowledged the importance of having a functional and dignified space for meetings, events, and official representation at the embassy, particularly in a key country like Egypt where Somalia maintains close diplomatic and educational ties.
He assured embassy officials that his administration, in collaboration with the Somali government and potential partners, would mobilize resources and ensure that the construction work begins without delay.
This move is seen as part of broader efforts by the Governor to expand Mogadishu’s regional cooperation and reflect Somalia’s renewed commitment to diplomatic presence and infrastructure in strategic international capitals.
RNN Somali TV will follow up on developments regarding the implementation timeline and funding partners involved in the reconstruction process.
