The local government forces in Galkayo district, protesting against unpaid wages, closed the district headquarters this morning, preventing employees from entering the facility to carry out their duties.

In recent times, several areas in Puntland have witnessed roadblocks set up by rebel forces on various occasions.

The Puntland Minister of Finance when asked about the issue said that road construction is more important than workers’ rights, which sparked a strong reaction on social media.

Some of the politicians who issued a statement about the non-payment of salaries by President Deni’s government to workers and the Puntland defense forces, demanded that the government immediately pay the workers and soldiers their due rights.
