The Prime Minister of France, Sébastien Lecornu, resigned just hours after his cabinet was announced.

The Élysée Palace announced this following a meeting that Lecornu held with President Emmanuel Macron on Monday morning.

This unexpected move came only 26 days after his appointment, following the collapse of the government led by François Bayrou.

Many members of the National Assembly strongly criticized the cabinet Lecornu formed, as it closely resembled Bayrou’s government, and the parties threatened to withdraw their vote of confidence.
