Somali former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo issued a statement to welcomed the propose by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, describing it as “a necessary step that can be part of finding a solution to the political circumstances and security threats surrounding the country.”
“As we have repeatedly suggested, the crucial issues that affect the fate of the country and the system of governance are a collective responsibility that requires consultation and consensus, therefore we insist that this conference bring together all relevant parties at the Federal and State levels.”
“We encourage President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to turn his words into action and make his promises a reality by creating a political environment based on trust, cooperation, and protection of the constitution he was elected to, while eliminating any unilateral action that undermines the unity of the country and the agreed-upon governance structure,” Farmaajo said.
