The government of Ethiopia has won an unexpected victory in Somalia and Rwanda, after a competition that took place in the capital city of the country, which entered the Executive Council of the African Union.
Ethiopia has received the membership of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC), after being elected yesterday, Wednesday, during the 46th meeting of the Executive Council in Addis Ababa, which will last for the next 3 years.
The results of the voting announced, Ethiopia received 38 votes, thereby winning the seat in East Africa, ahead of Rwanda and Somalia, which received one vote and ten votes.
Ethiopia’s victory will further strengthen its diplomatic presence in the most influential security organization on the African continent, and its country is now the headquarters of the African Union.
Also, this opportunity gives Ethiopia another power in matters of peace and security, especially in Somalia and the entire Horn of Africa, as it has won the seat of East Africa in the Peace and Security Council of the African Union.
