Ethiopia has expressed concern that the ATMIS Army should be withdrawn from Somalia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Atske-Selassie, received in his office in Addis Ababa, Ambassador Mike Hammer, who is the special representative of the United States in charge of the Horn of Africa.

The two sides discussed issues of peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
Minister Taye emphasized Ethiopia’s concerns about the withdrawal of ATMIS, and Ethiopia’s continued efforts to defuse the crisis in the region.

They also discussed the situation in Tigray region. Ambassador Taye expressed Ethiopia’s commitment to the full implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement and stressed that they are concerned about the activities of the TPLF.

Taye further called for the restoration of Ethiopia’s status under the African Growth and Opportunities Act (AGOA) ,of federal government in control of Ethiopia.

As for the US Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Mike Hammer told the truth to Ethiopia, he said, “The stability of the Horn of Africa lies in Ethiopia, which should stop interfering with Somalia’s .”
