Clan Militias in Somaliland to Be Integrated into the National Army
Hargeisa, April 20, 2025 – Trusted sources report that armed clan militias operating in parts of Somaliland—especially in previously conflict-prone areas—are being formally integrated into the National Armed Forces.
As part of the initiative, each fighter will surrender their weapon and technical vehicles to the military command, marking a significant step towards disarmament and national unity.
Security officials say that if the process is successfully completed, it will eliminate many of the armed actors who have historically used clan interests to fuel internal conflicts and civil strife in the region.
