In the Tibet region of China, rescue operations are still underway to rescue thousands of people who are still stranded in the areas that were severely affected by the strong earthquake that occurred there on Tuesday.

A preliminary survey showed that 3,609 houses were destroyed in the city of Shigatse in Tibet, home to 800,000 people.
