The presidential elections for the Northeastern Somali region has come to an after 2 rounds.
Mr. Abdiqadir Aw-Ali Firdhiye has become the president of the North-East region for the next five years, after candidate Abdirisaq Khaliif, advanced to the second round and ultimately won.
Abdulqadir Ahmed Aw-Ali Firdhiye received 62 votes, while Abdirisaq Khaliif received 18 votes , 2 votes were invalid , as announced by the speaker of parliament.
The new elected president has been leading the SSC-Khatumo administration for the past two years, which has now been renamed the North-Eastern Somalia administration.
Mr Firdhiiye has played a major role in building his administration , also he has good relations with the federal government of Somalia.
