The most influential leader of the Kenyan opposition and the former Prime Minister of the country, Raila Amolo Odinga, has died at the age of 80.

Raila Amolo Odinga was born in 1945 was a Kenyan politician who served as the Prime Minister of Kenya from 2008 to 2013. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Langata Constituency from 1992 to 2013 and was the Leader of Opposition in Kenya from 2013 on.

The deceased was confirmed to have died at the age of 80, according to family sources in Kochi, India where he was currently undergoing treatment, especially for heart disease.

Odinga, who is remembered for having been defeated several times in elections held in Kenya, was once given the position of Prime Minister of that country after he protested against the results of the election, but he said that he was corrupted.

Raila Odinga also play a major role in Kenya politic is also famous for the historic “Handshake” agreement he signed with former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018, which ended the national political crisis and led Kenya to political stability and reconciliation.

Also, last year he ran for the position of AU Chairperson, but he was defeated in the vote by the leaders of the African continent.
