Cairo, May 10, 2025 – Reports emerging from Egypt confirm that Mohamed Ahmed Amiir, the Governor of Banadir Region, has been detained at Cairo International Airport after being found in possession of an invalid visa.
Governor Amiir, along with several individuals accompanying him, was reportedly en route to Egypt when authorities discovered that they were carrying unauthorized or improperly issued entry visas. It remains unclear whether the purpose of the visit was official or personal.
The incident comes as a shock, especially since the Governor was expected to be actively addressing the challenges facing Banadir Region. Instead, he now finds himself at the center of a visa scandal abroad.
