Mogadishu – May 5, 2025
The much-anticipated National Consultative Forum meeting, which was scheduled to begin today in Mogadishu, has been unexpectedly postponed due to the absence of several regional leaders.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Presidents of Jubaland and Puntland have not arrived in the capital to participate, while SSC-Khaatumo has reportedly been among those invited to the forum.
This forum was expected to address critical national issues including elections, security, and intergovernmental relations between the Federal Government and Federal Member States. The postponement follows earlier delays in convening the meeting.
Although no official statement has yet been released by Villa Somalia or the National Consultative Forum Secretariat, the cancellation raises concerns about the ongoing political tensions and divisions between federal and regional leaders.
