Somali National Army forces, in collaboration with Jubbaland State troops and supported by international air power, have conducted a major operation targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Jamaame district of Lower Juba.
According to an official statement from the Jubbaland administration, the operation included coordinated airstrikes followed by ground assaults on suspected militant hideouts. At least 20 Al-Shabaab members, including senior commanders, were reported killed.
The offensive focused on key villages—Yiireey, Malaalyleey, Janaal-jaay, and Muuse Xaaji—which had previously served as strategic bases for the militant group. Forces destroyed underground bunkers and other facilities used by Al-Shabaab, regaining control of several critical areas.
Officials confirmed the operation is ongoing and vowed to continue until the group is fully eradicated from the region. The involvement of international partners, particularly in aerial support, was credited with playing a crucial role in the mission’s success.
