Despite recent regional developments, relations between Cairo and Mogadishu remain strong and rooted in mutual respect and shared interests. Contrary to reports suggesting tension, diplomatic channels between the two countries continue to operate with transparency and positivity.

In a recent phone call between Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati and Abdul Salam Abdi Ali, the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, both sides emphasized the depth of historical ties and strategic cooperation. Minister Abdel Ati reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and stability of Somalia, as well as its national institutions.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry further stressed that Somalia’s stability is vital for the peace and security of the Horn of Africa and the African continent at large. Egypt reaffirmed its readiness to support Somalia in the fight against terrorism and extremism, highlighting ongoing cooperation in security, capacity-building, and regional coordination.
