Our Participation in the Anti-Houthi Alliance is a Commendable Step

The decision we have made to join the alliance against the Houthi militia in Yemen, as affirmed by the president in a recent interview, deserves recognition and appreciation.

The Houthi movement, which is guided by Shiite ideology, has formed a strong alliance with terrorist networks. They have received Iranian-backed experts to assist in developing drone technology, and on six different occasions, they have been supplied with a variety of weapons and ammunition.

Unfortunately, I have seen some Somalis, whose hearts are blinded by ideology, claim that fighting the Houthis is a betrayal of Palestine, linking it to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza. These individuals fail to understand that no real battle exists between the Houthis and Israel; rather, this is part of a phony war orchestrated between Iranian-backed Shiites and Zionists, aimed at manipulating global Muslim opinion.

Some of these misguided Somalis go as far as suggesting that, “If the Houthis support Palestine, then it’s okay for them to support the Khawarij extremists and kill us too.” This absurd notion implies that the blood of Palestinians is sacred, while Somali blood is permissible to shed.

This mindset stems from a confusion between Islam and Arab identity. Many have forgotten the wise words of Somali scholar Sheikh Mustafa Ismail Harun, who said: “You can worship your Lord in Somali; you can pray in any language.”

The Houthis are militants of Iran’s Shiite regime. They are allies of the Khawarij, supplying them with chemical weapons used in the massacre of Somali Muslims. Therefore, confronting the Houthis is not a reactionary move, but rather a well-thought-out step. However, it is critical that we receive military support to protect ourselves from any retaliation that may follow.
