Mogadishu – The Natural Resources and Environment Committee of the House of the People (Lower House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia) has stated that it was not informed about the recent agreement signed between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Republic of Turkey.

The committee expressed concern over the lack of transparency and the apparent bypassing of proper legal and constitutional procedures in the approval of international agreements.

In an official statement, the committee declared:

“The Natural Resources and Environment Committee of the House of the People officially confirms that it has not received any information regarding the agreement signed between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Government of Turkey. This goes against the constitutional process for the approval of international treaties.”

The statement comes at a time when the Somalia-Turkey agreement, which reportedly involves maritime resource management and coastal security, is raising questions and calls for parliamentary review and debate.
