Unknown diseases which more than 50 people have died in recent weeks in the northwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo as reported by the World Health Organization.
The WHO said in a press release on February 16, there have been 431 cases and 53 deaths from two outbreaks in remote villages in the Equateur region and they said investigation of the disease is going on .
WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic said in a brief statement on Tuesday that outbreaks of unknown causes are increasing rapidly within days, that these diseases are characterized by symptoms such as fever, pain, vomiting and diarrhea which is a major threat to public health.
These diseases come at a time when parts of the Congo are experiencing civil strife that has resulted in many deaths. The conflict is intense in the eastern part of the Congo.
