At least 53 people have been confirmed dead and 62 others injured after a major earthquake hit the mountainous region of Tibet on Tuesday morning, according to Chinese state media.
The earthquake that struck the city of Shigatse in Tibet occurred at 09:00 local time of the country, and the magnitude was 7.1 according to the data of the United States Geological Survey, which also shows the fear that another earthquake may occur.
The earthquake was also witnessed in neighboring Nepal, while parts of India were also witnessed.
Earthquakes are common in the region, given the history of how often they have occurred.
