The Federal Government of Somalia, especially the Ministry of Defense, has issued a critical statement regarding the war that broke out today in Raskambooni area, which is between the government forces and those of Jubbaland.
It was said that troops sent by President Ahmed Madobe attacked government positions this morning, after which the war broke out and resulted in casualties including deaths and injuries.
“Early this morning, a group of the Jubaland Army, which was misused by Ahmed Madobe, attacked a position of the National Army and the Jubbaland Dervishes in the Lower Juba region,” the statement said.
It was also added that “the forces attacked by Ahmed Madobe were the forces that were sent there to take over bases that the ATMIS forces had recently left, and were also preparing for operations against Al Shabab”.
“On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense is closely following a plan that Ahmed Madobe made contact with the Khawarij, as a result of which Al Shabab allowed the groups he organized to attack the National Army to enter the Al Shabab Militia” said the press release.
It is also said in the news that this will result in strict legal punishment, and Ahmed Madobe will be held accountable for his actions.
On the other hand, Jubbaland claimed victory in the war, and announced that it had taken over the area of Raskambooni, and also captured 42 soldiers from the forces that the Somali government had sent there, as it said.
